HEAT IS YOUR ENEMY

Heat is the most hated of all weather conditions. All electronics hate heat. Even when our phone gets hot it preforms worse and worse. Sometimes it even shuts down to prevent overheating to protect the phone.

This is the same for our Electric Skateboards. If the system gets to hot it will shut down to prevent damage to the vehicle. (Lipo's do not have this system in place unless you have installed a BMS) They have sensors to prevent this kinda thing but its good to know what to expect when or if you overheat. So lets begin!

You can expect your board to slow down if your Motors get to hot, this may even feel jerky.
This is the same for if your Speed Controller gets to hot.

You can not expect your board to slow down if the battery gets to hot.
This we need to check by hand or with some type of tool.

The App's can show us a lot of data. Xmatic and Metr can show Motor's temps and Speed Controller temps.
When you hit the set temperature limit, or starts to get to hot. The system will thermal throttle you.
Think of this as how your phone company likes to slow your speeds after so much data. The only difference is
the data is heat. You downloaded to much heat and now your system is throttled. When you become cool again
it will begin to ride normal.

When you feel this throttling, you may want to stop riding, ride slower, and or ride with caution.
If the system gets to hot it will shut down to prevent damage to the vehicle. This is not to be tested
in my opinion. If your system gets hot stop and check your system temps and battery by hand or tool.
If you cant hold it, its hot! As for the battery a cool battery or same temp as outside minus direct sun is
the best battery to have. Warm is ok for the battery but again if you cant hold it its to hot. A battery can heat
up from direct sunlight. So if you are chilling best to keep the battery case from direct sunlight.

Electronic can fail at any time, So can sensors.
So its good just to check on your vehicle by hand ever now and then. Maybe even make it habit when you stop.
